Tata Safari

The Safari still holds that big, macho SUV image. It continues its high stance with a rather long bonnet; it exudes ruggedness; even in the face of its rather more timid looking clear lens headlamps and some extra chrome that has gone into its anti-ageing process
well-designed interiors with comfortable seats and quite a luxurious cabin. The Dash is in beige with a polished aluminum console in the center of the dash It comes with a nice clock and buttons for the defogger, rear wash-wipe and so on. The higher versions of the safari also come with either an MP3 or a VCD player.

The seats are really good and comfortable, they come with hand supports for the passengers up front and at the back. The rear legroom is excellent and it is very comfortable here, unlike the last row of seats, which aren't fit for extended drives. Once you fold these jump seats though, u liberates a lot of luggage room. The safari now incorporates adjustable height seat belts that can really go a long way in improving comfort and in the event of a crash, they can dramatically reduce the risk of neck injury

It features with a  4 cylinder, 2179cc engine delivering power output of 140PS@4000rpm and torque of 320NM@1700rpm. The Transmission is a 5 speed manual box, while the engine uses an advanced common rail injection.

Tata Nano

Cheap doesn’t mean ugly and the Nano is ample proof of that. Tata has shown that one can build a great looking car at the lowest price point. The Nano has a cute, proportional design that is one of the best fusions of form & functionality. The styling is a hit with everyone! I particularly like the chic front end, while the mini-Indica rear isn’t too bad either. The Nano stands taller than you originally thought  a factor that greatly increases the feeling of space inside. Not much has changed on the look's front in the 2012 Nano, save for the full size wheel caps & the much-coveted passenger side mirror. The Nano has an attitude that’s super cool; this is not something you can throw marketing money at and buy. The company obviously understands this and even has a full range of Nano merchandise available. Tata has rolled out 8 new colours for the Nano (total colour options now stand at 10).

Build & paint quality will meet the expectations of buyers from this segment. Tata’s cars have usually worn decent paint, and the Nano is no different, keeping the price in mind of course. For instance, notice the stark colour difference between the body panels and the bumpers. Inconsistent / large gaps are fairly obvious at places too. That the Nano is a light 600 kilo car is immediately evident when you lift up the bonnet; the metal feels flimsy enough for you to bend with your hands. Tata has smartly cut the flab in areas which people won't notice on a daily basis; the rest of the car passes muster for an entry-level automobile. And for such a light car, the Nano has surprisingly acceptable road manners. The interiors also feel greatly improved on the 2012 version.

My best friend owns a Nano and I remember the first time we went for a spin in it. The world turned to take a second look. Well, that’s not the case anymore. Today, the Nano is just another car on the road.
Tata has listened to existing customer feedback carefully, and come up with a slew of improvements on the 2012 Nano
  •  A little more power (3 BHP), torque (3 Nm) and a slightly higher revv limit
  •  Overall gearing is taller. As a result, a better ARAI fuel-efficiency rating of 25.4 kpl & lower emissions too
  •  Beige interiors & silver center console for the LX variant
  •  Additional bolstering on the seats. Fabric seats, even on the CX variant (previously vinyl). New design for the front seat neck restraints (head rests)
  •   Beige-black door pads for the LX. Beige trim on the A & B pillars!
  •   Rear seat backrest height has been raised for better back & shoulder support
  •   Full wheel covers
  •   Passenger-side ORVM. Available as an accessory for existing owners
  •   Single pull strap to flip the rear seat down (instead of two straps of the older car)
  •   Beefed up NVH insulation
  •   A suspension that rides a tad softer
  •   An anti-roll bar at the front end
  •   Some improvements to the steering response & exhaust note
  •   Booster-assisted braking added to the base variant
  •   New colour options
  •  Uniquely cute & cool styling. A car that will make you smile
  •  Innovative packaging results in spacious interiors for 4 adults. Generous legroom &            headroom
  •  Peppy performance at speeds <80 kph. Engine offers good urban driveability too
  •  Small footprint & tiny turning radius make it immensely chuckable within the city
  •  Powerful air-conditioner will chill you to the bone
  •  A proper car starting at a price of 1.40 lakhs only

TATA ARIA

Tata Motors took help from the technicians at its subsidiary Land Rover to fine tune the handling of the Tata Aria. It is definitely an improvement from the handling of the Tata Safari – a comparable beast. The Aria does roll when leaned into corners.

 Design
Tata insists that the Aria is not just a people-mover, but a proper 4×4 in its own right. Initial impressions suggest a very competitive package with some first-time safety features. Torque on demand  adapting all terrain quality/capabilities.
The Tata Aria is best described as a people mover on some serious steroids with all-weather and all-road capability. The very large and very intimidating front is dominated by the large three-slat chrome grille flanked by large swooping dual-barrel projector headlamps. Front fog-lamps are inset in the blacked-out bumper insert which quite helps in getting rid of some visual bulk on the front and gives it a more aggressive look. The muscular flared-fenders which house meaty 235/65 sized rubber on purposeful five dual-spoke 17” alloy wheels really do give the Aria a slightly chunky and very SUV-like demeanor.

Tata Aria’s interiors are a pleasurable place to be in. comfortably seat five passengers in the front two rows, but the ARIA wins with more leg space in the third row, strange because, the Aria is bigger. The quality of materials and the wooden bits are top-notch in both the cars.

ENGINE :

It is a 2.2 liter diesel motor making 140 PS @ 4000 rpm and a massive 320 Nm of torque @ 2200 rpm. These figures are enough to haul this crossover from 0-100 kmph in 15.65 seconds. That is also considering the nearly 2,225 kerb weight of the Tata Aria. Having a smaller engine that glistens with modern technology, helps the Tata Aria post better acceleration figures. It reaches a top speed of 170 kmph. It is quite tractable and very silent in its operation. Braking is done with the help of 320mm ventilated discs at the front and 280 mm solid discs at the rear. The Tata Aria returns 10.9 kmpl in the city and an excellent, if suspicious figure of 18.3 kmpl  on the highway. This translates to over all figures of 14.6 kmpl. So much with 4 wheel drive.

safety features in the Tata Aria include Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS, EBD and traction control. The Aria also includes a segment first 6 airbags, cruise control, side intrusion beams and a collapsible steering column. The steering wheel is also quite easy to fit in the hands and has cruise control, Bluetooth and audio controls in them. There is also a satellite based navigation system, leather upholstery, darkness sensing head lamps, rain sensing wipers, glove box chiller, 6 CD audio system and reverse camera.

Design and Styling
  • Huge 17" wheels, Chrome finish front grille, ORVM integrated turn indicators
  • Round shaped fog lamps, Vertical pillar mounted tail lamps
  • Swept back head lamps with integrated turn indicators
In term of Design and styling Aria is one the best looking products from Tata. Huge seventeen inch wheels with disc brakes all around give the Aria this imposing stance. The front end of Aria looks very similar with large sized headlamps, large chrome finished front grille and large front bumper with huge airdam flanked by round front fog lamps on both sides. All in all Aria looks very balanced and proportionate. But the fit and finish of Aria is a notch up in comparison to other Tata products. When viewed from side Aria looks very huge and the different shaped rear quarter glass give it a modern and up to date look. The front grille of Tata Aria is finished in chrome which give it upmarket look, overall fit and finish and paint quality.

Exterior Dimensions :
Length of Tata Aria is 4780mm, width is 1895mm and height is 1780mm. Tata Aria has a seating capacity of seven passengers and all are comfortable, all because of Tata Aria's huge wheelbase of 2850mm and overall ground clearance of 200mm also lends off-roading capability to Tata Aria. Tata Aria is bigger in all respects and hence proves to be much more comfortable with more legroom and headroom.

Honda Jazz

The car is named Honda Fit in Japan but Honda markets it as the Jazz in export markets. Thus it is launched as the GD1 Honda Jazz for Malaysia, fully imported and made in Japan for export, and is currently available in only 1 variant and equipped with the new L13A engine. The L13A displaces 1339cc and is technically classified as a 1.4l. It is of the new generation L-series engine, featuring the new iDSi (intelligent Dual Sequential Ignition) technology which focuses on excellent fuel economy along with good power output. Thus the engine delivers 83ps max power but fuel consumption can exceed 20km/lt

For Malaysia Honda offers the Jazz in a choice of 4 colours; Satin Silver Metallic, Ice Blue Metallic, Nighthawk Black Pearl, and Milano Red. As indicated by their name, the Silver and Blue are metallic colours while the Black is pearl.

The new Honda Jazz would be available in three variants Jazz, Jazz Mode and Jazz Active. i.e. two 1.2 liter and a 1.5 liter petrol engines. The 1.2 liter petrol engine generates maximum power of 89 Bhp at 6200 rpm and maximum torque of 110 Nm at 4800 rpm, whereas the 1.5 liter petrol variant of the Jazz produces maximum power of 120 ps at 6600 rpm. The new Honda Jazz attains the speed of 0 – 100 kmph in just 11.1 seconds with top speed being 165 kmph. The engine of new Jazz comes mated with 5 speed manual transmission. Honda claims a mileage of 16-17 kmpl, and the value is certified by ARAI. High price and high comfort.

Interior - wise, the star is the new Ultra Seat which features a new rear seat design which is superbly flexible and allows three 'modes' to be created for rear carrying space on the Jazz. These are the Utility, Long, and Tall modes. By folding the rear seats in different ways, each mode offers a variation in the rear carrying space which is optimized for different kind of loads - wide bulky loads (up to 6.5 ft wide), very long narrow loads (up to 8 feet long) or very tall loads (up to 5 feet tall)

Honda Brio

The latest from Honda comes in the form of the new Honda Brio which will be placed as Honda’s entry level car in India. B segment cars account for the maximum sales in the industry and Honda wants to get into the segment with a quality product on their hands. The Brio has been designed specifically for the Asian markets, India and Thailand to be precise.

Seating position is comfortable and the front seats sport two tone upholstery in the V variant and a single tone in the S. Front seats provide good back support and though we are not fans of the integrated headrest, it was pretty comfortable. Legroom and especially knee room is adequate for a six footer thanks to a scooped out dashboard. The front seats are relatively thin. This is done to ensure better legroom and knee room for the rear passenger.
