Toyota Aqua Hybrid

 

The Toyota Aqua Hybrid has been Launched in Japan, a hybrid car that offers fuel efficiency of 35.4 km / L. This car is powered by a Toyota Hybrid System II 1.5-liter that allows you to generate an output of 100 hp.

 

The system consists of a cooled gasoline engine exhaust, which improves the efficiency of high-expansion cycle of the engine. The leash pumps reduce friction in the engine and allow precise control of refrigerant flow.

 

Aqua is a manifestation of Toyota Prius in hatchback form. And this time it seems Toyota is trying to target the segment of young children.

 

And so the teens are interested in having this car, of Aqua should have a cool exterior design with compact dimensions. Aqua front view looks attractive with an elegant design of the main light. Rear view also looks interesting with the dominance of white lights. While the rear spoiler also shows that this car can look sporty.

 

 

With the long dimension of 3995 mm, width 1695 mm, and height 1445 mm, making Aqua has a slightly larger body than the latest generation Yaris.

 

Although there is still a relationship with the Prius, but Aqua has a different interior design with these hybrid sedan. There are only a few parts are picked from the Prius, such as the unique wheel design, digital instrument panel, as well as LCD screens that are in the middle of the cockpit.

 

New stuff in the cabin Aqua is the size of the board under a smaller LCD screen. No buttons seem more numerous and complicated operation. Looks like Toyota is doing simplification to make it look more simple and uncomplicated. Transmission lever also now comes with a larger size and placed in the bottom of the center console.

 

Cars that can accommodate five people has a 4-cylinder gasoline engine capacity of 1500 cc, capable of producing 74 horsepower at 4800 rpm. While the torque reaching 111 Nm at 4800 rpm. This machine is accompanied by a powerful electric motor 61 dk. And if the engine and electric motor work together, it will produce 100 horsepower.

 

Toyota Aqua/Prius C Technology Highlights:

• A cooled Exhaust-Gas Recirculation (EGR) system improves efficiency in the high-expansion-ratio Atkinson cycle engine.

• Also contributing to increased engine efficiency is a battery-powered water pump, a friction-reducing beltless design and precise coolant-water-flow volume control.

• A selectable electric-vehicle mode (EV Mode) enables driving with only the electric motor.

• The hybrid battery has been sized for placement under the rear seat, resulting in a spacious cargo area of 305 liters.

• The Hybrid System Indicator offers easy-to-understand information concerning eco-driving, such as effective accelerator use. Also part of the information system is Eco Judge ranks eco-driving on a 100-point scale, and Eco Wallet shows money saved as compared with other levels of fuel efficiency.

• Automatic air conditioning is equipped with an electric inverter compressor run by the electric motor, enabling a comfortably air-conditioned interior even when the engine is off.

The front is well enough to seat a 6’4" (2m) driver and passenger, with enough head and legroom. The back is less spacious for the head, still good enough to seat 2 adults, or 3 children. 

The US model has 2 cupholders seated in the back bench, so only seats 2 adults. A mistake imho. The car would be excellent for parents with 3 kids, if they only manufactured the rear bench to seat 3 kids, instead of 2 adults!

Zelas

Toyota realized that its China model line up was going in the wrong direction, with too many large sedans and SUVs, but not enough small cars. So the company has decided to introduce some models from the Scion range to the Chinese market

Toyota Zelas using of the engine, to similar with the Scion tC with a capacity of 2.5 liter 4-cylinder-powered 180 HP. The Zelas having a safety features, there is ABS, VSC, traction control, EDB, and BA. The 2011 new Toyota Zelas is equipped with 8-air bags (air bags), including for the protection of the driver and front passenger knee.

Toyota has launched the Toyota Zelas in the GCC, and will come standard with an aggressive body kit. The all-new 5-seater Zelas is powered by a Camry-derived 2.5-litre VVT-i 4-cylinder engine, with front-wheel-drive and a standard 6-speed automatic with tiptronic. 

The two-door coupe has four-wheel-independent suspension with MacPherson struts up front and double-wishbone rear, as well as four-wheel-disc brakes, vented at the front and solid rear. The Zelas comes in only two trim levels.

The rather-loaded base trim comes with an 8-speaker CD/MP3 stereo with USB port and 6-disc CD changer, Bluetooth, keyless entry, cloth upholstery, manual a/c, power windows, folding electric mirrors, ABS, stability control, front and side airbags, spilt-folding rear seat, fog lamps, 17-inch alloys with 215/50 tyres, parking sensors, leather steering wheel with controls, rear spoiler and the body kit. The top version adds leather upholstery, cruise control, paddle shifters and smart keyless entry with starter button. 

Curiously, neither a sunroof nor a manual gearbox is available. Toyota says they are going to promote it as a tuner car.

MKIV Supra

The MKIV Supra’s twin turbos actually operated in sequential mode instead of parallel mode as the "twin turbo" name usually implies. The way that the sequential mode operated was the first turbo starts spooling at low rpms & as the rpms increased, the second turbo joins in. This helped in reducing turbo lag. Most cars which are advertised as "twin turbo" operate by having the two equally sized turbos constantly running in parallel; the turbos spool up at the same time. For this generation, the Supra received a new 6-speed Getrag transmission on the Turbo models

 The Japanese twin turbo uses ceramic (exhaust side only) shafts which can be replaced with no modifications by the steel CT20A (large version) turbine shafts. These steel shafts are found in 2JZ-GTE Aristo's and some turbo diesel Toyotas.

POWERTRAIN OPTIONS AND AVAILABILITY

Two 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engines have been available, each with dual overhead camshafts. A normally aspirated engine went into base Supras, producing 220 horsepower. Turbos employed a twin-turbocharger version, putting out 320 horsepower and 315 pound-feet of torque. Base Supras had a standard 5-speed manual gearbox; Turbos, a 6-speed. Either might be equipped instead with a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The fourth-generation Toyota Supra remained relatively unchanged throughout its lifespan. The base trim level came with a 3.0-liter 24-valve inline-6 engine that generated 220 horsepower and 215 pound-feet of torque. It was offered with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. More impressive was the Supra Turbo. Powered by a sequential twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter 24-valve inline-6, the Turbo produced 320 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque. Zero-to-60 times were in the low 5-second range. For the first time, the Supra looked and drove like an exotic performance car. And it came loaded with a number of standard features that were impressive for the day, including traction control, a limited-slip differential, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and a six-speed manual transmission.

Simple good very properly proportioned sedan that beat others in the segment.

Very comfortable seating and ride quality on the road. Hours of driving and you do not get fatigue at all. Just gets going smoothly as you drive on longer journeys. Very good frontal view for driver. Window panes are large and do not restrict outside view. Have very proper hight and head room is quite nice.

 

Fantastic pickup. Very smooth accellaration. Smooth cluch and firm braking. No skidding etc as its got ABS with EBD. You really glide over on smooth road.
