The Altis comes with seven variants: 1.8J, 1.8G, 1.8GL, 1.8VL and 1.8G(CVT) in petrol engines, 1.4L HJ, 1.4L HG and 1.4L HL with diesel engines. It sports a two engine - 1.8-litre petrol and 1.4-Litre diesel. 1.8-Litre petrol engine is improved and powerful, compared to its pre-decessor. This engine comes with Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) that dispenses 131 bhp@6400 rpm and a maximum torque of 173 Nm @ 4000 rpm. Toyota's VVT-i technology optimizes valve timing by regulating air intake and exhaust timings to deliver potent torque at low and mid-range engine rotations.
